Mental health, trauma recovery, and emotional wellbeing formed a central part of the conversation during the Parliamentary Society for Arts, Fashion & Sports Assembly at the House of Commons on Tuesday 2 June 2026.

Hosted by Alex Davies-Jones MP and Rebeca Riofrio, the Assembly explored how creative industries can become safer, healthier, and more supportive environments for future generations.

Among those recognised for their contribution to this mission was Rhea Maria Elliott, PTSD therapist, child psychologist, counsellor, and founder of Healing the Wounded Child.

Elliott received the Medal of Honour for Welfare Advocacy in recognition of her outstanding work supporting trauma survivors, vulnerable children, and individuals facing emotional and psychological challenges.

Throughout her career, Elliott has dedicated herself to helping people navigate some of life's most difficult experiences. Her work combines professional expertise with a deep commitment to compassion, healing, and recovery.

Speaking before receiving her honour, Elliott reflected on the importance of mental health support and the responsibility society carries towards those experiencing trauma.

Her remarks highlighted the need for greater understanding, early intervention, and safe environments where people feel able to seek support without fear or stigma.

The audience responded with considerable emotion, recognising the profound impact that mental health challenges continue to have across every sector of society.

Receiving the Parliamentary Society Medal of Honour for Welfare Advocacy, Elliott was recognised not only for her professional achievements but also for helping bring visibility, dignity, and hope to those whose voices are too often unheard.
