Charli Howard Recognised for Transformative Advocacy for Women

Charli Howard, model, author and body positivity advocate, received the Medal of Honour for Transformative Advocacy for Women at the Parliamentary Society for Arts, Fashion & Sports Assembly.

The event, hosted by Alex Davies-Jones MP and Rebeca Riofrio at the House of Commons, focused on violence prevention, safeguarding, mental health, online abuse, body image, dignity and responsibility within the creative industries.

Howard has become one of the most recognisable voices challenging harmful beauty standards within fashion and media.

After publicly responding to being told she was “too big” for modelling, she became an influential advocate for body confidence, representation and female empowerment.

Her speech was described as powerful and deeply moving. She spoke with honesty about the pressures placed upon women’s bodies, the damage caused by unrealistic ideals, and the need for industries to take greater responsibility for the images and expectations they promote.

As an author of works exploring body image, mental health and female identity, Howard has helped open wider conversations about self-worth and representation.

Her honour recognised not only her career, but her courage in transforming personal experience into advocacy for other women.
