In a glittering ceremony held at the esteemed Casino de Madrid on the 7th of November 2023, the illustrious Man of the Year Award for 2023 was conferred upon Sergio Bernal, the UK Ambassador for Arts - Parliamentary Society. Born in Madrid in 1990, Bernal embarked on his journey into the world of dance in 2002, enrolling at the Real Conservatorio de Danza de Madrid, where he displayed an exceptional aptitude for the art form, ultimately graduating with top honors.
Bernal's professional odyssey commenced when he joined the company of Rafael Aguilar as a principal dancer, a role that laid the foundation for a remarkable career trajectory. Subsequently, he became an integral part of the Workshop of the National Ballet of Spain, solidifying his reputation as a formidable talent in the world of dance.
In 2009, Sergio Bernal's star ascended further as he embarked on a global tour with Flamenco Hoy, collaborating with the iconic Carlos Saura company. His journey reached a pinnacle in 2012 when he joined the prestigious National Ballet of Spain as a soloist, ascending to the esteemed position of principal dancer in 2016.

In addition to interpreting classical masterpieces, Bernal has ventured into choreography, showcasing his creative prowess through works like "Overture," "Ser," "Folia of Gentlemen," "Orgia," "Bolero," "Histoire du Soldat," and "Petrushka." In September 2019, Sergio Bernal embarked on a new chapter in his career, departing from the National Ballet of Spain to establish his own company in collaboration with Ricardo Cue. Their inaugural production, 'A Night with Sergio Bernal,' premiered in Sochi, Russia, featuring the artistry of Joaquín de Luz and Miriam Mendoza. In January of the same year, Bernal was invited as a special guest artist at the English National Ballet's 70th-anniversary celebration, directed by the renowned Tamara Rojo, at London's Coliseum Theater.
In October 2020, Bernal unveiled his second production, "SER," at the Teatros del Canal in Madrid, a testament to his commitment to pushing the boundaries of dance.
