Elvijs Plugis Leads Parliamentary Society Honours Ceremony Celebrating Excellence Across the Arts, Media and Culture

At this year's Parliamentary Society for Arts, Fashion & Sports Assembly at the House of Commons, one figure stood quietly at the centre of the evening's most significant moments.

As President and Head of the Board of the Parliamentary Society for Arts, Fashion & Sports, Elvijs Plugis carried the responsibility of presenting the Society's highest honours to an exceptional group of individuals whose work continues to shape culture, media, business and society.

For more than seven years, Plugis has served the organisation with unwavering dedication, helping guide its growth, governance and strategic direction. While much of his work takes place behind the scenes, the Assembly provided an opportunity for guests to witness his commitment firsthand as he personally presented medals and recognitions to a distinguished group of honourees.

Seated at the head table alongside Her Royal Highness Princess Katarina of Serbia, Parliamentary Society Chairwoman Rebeca Riofrio, and distinguished diplomatic representatives including the Ambassador of Panama, Plugis represented the Society's commitment to celebrating achievement while fostering meaningful dialogue around the future of the creative industries.

Throughout the evening, he awarded a series of honours recognising outstanding contributions across fashion, journalism, entertainment, entrepreneurship, advocacy and public influence.

Among those recognised was fashion journalism icon Suzy Menkes, who received the Medal of Honour for Lifetime Achievement in Fashion Journalism and Cultural Influence. For decades, Menkes has been one of the most respected voices in global fashion, helping shape public understanding of the industry through insightful reporting and fearless commentary.

The Medal of Honour for Excellence in Global Communication was presented to Andrea Thompson, whose career has demonstrated the power of strategic communication and leadership across international markets.

Entertainment industry leader Denise Parkinson received recognition for Global Leadership in Entertainment Media, reflecting decades of influence within one of the world's most competitive industries.

Entrepreneur and founder of the globally recognised brand Sprayground, David Ben-David, was honoured for Cultural Entrepreneurship and Youth Empowerment, recognising his ability to transform creativity into a business that inspires younger generations around the world.

Mental health advocate Rhea Maria Elliott received the Medal of Honour for Welfare Advocacy, acknowledging her dedication to supporting vulnerable individuals and raising awareness of mental wellbeing.

Environmental advocate and philanthropist Natalia Kapchuk was recognised for Environmental Stewardship Through the Arts, highlighting her efforts to combine creativity with environmental responsibility.

Dr. Patricia Caiza received recognition for International Trade and Community Support, while Karina Dubina was honoured for her work promoting refugee enterprise and inclusion, demonstrating how business can become a powerful force for integration and opportunity.

Cultural Influence Medals were presented to television personality and advocate Kyle De'Volle, content creator Aiden London, and supporter of the performing arts Alexei Bezrukov, each recognised for using their platforms to inspire audiences and champion positive change.

A special Medal of Excellence for Services to the Parliamentary Society was awarded to official photographer Kam Murali, whose work has helped document the Society's journey and preserve the stories behind its most memorable moments.

Supporting the proceedings throughout the evening was distinguished broadcaster and presenter Finn Swaine, who served as the evening's Master of Ceremonies, guiding guests through the programme with professionalism, warmth and grace.

While the recipients represented a wide range of industries and backgrounds, the ceremony itself reflected a shared purpose: recognising individuals who use their influence to create meaningful impact.

For Plugis, the occasion represented another milestone in a journey of service that has spanned more than seven years within the Parliamentary Society.
